Telephone Bill and the Smooth Operators 2

Telephone Bill & the Smooth Operators

Comberton Leisure , 28-May-2010 from 19:00 to 22:30

Thirty years ago they said Telephone Bill & the Smooth Operators were thirty years ahead of their time. So right now they're really nice and fresh.

Original members, Robb  Appleton, Nick Barraclough, Chris Cox and Steve Reynolds re-formed as The Burglars eight years ago and became Telephone Bill again this year with the inclusion of Paula Welham from Bury St Edmunds band The Floozies.

The band still has that ridiculously eclectic repertoire which takes in blues, country, jazz, old forgotten pop songs and Chris's own material. And they have the same bewildering array of instrumentation; guitar, banjo, harmonica, string bass, accordion, saxophone and flute.

But the big deal is the vocals; from sublime duets to glorious, genuine five-parters.

Funny, too, depending on your sense of humour.

Come and see them. If you do, you'll be glad.
